摘要

The report covers the investigations into the new methods of drilling holes in the composite materials and specially thin components by using new types of drills. These drills have been invented and developed by Prof. F. Zawistowski. The results received confirm the expectations concerning the operation of the new drill based on 'internal cone' principle. This is specially important for the application to the drilling of thin and not-flat components made of composite materials. The axial force necessary for drilling is much smaller (sometimes 3 - 5 times smaller) as in the case of any center point drill. The heating up of the material during the drilling is negligible due to the absence of the center point which has poor cutting performance. Drilling of the thin and formed (not-flat) components may be performed by hand drilling machine (electric or pneumatic) with controlled feed and specially adapted for this purpose. The drilling may be performed through the jig or with a specially adapted or redesigned drilling machine.
