Geologic Report for the Chukchi Sea Planning Area, Alaska: Regional Geology, Petroleum Geology, and Environmental Geology

The report summarizes the regional geologic framework, hydrocarbon potential, and shallow geology of the Chukchi Sea Planning Area, scheduled for Federal OCS (Outer Continental Shelf) Oil and Gas Lease Sale 109, in May, 1988. The geologic interpretation of the planning area is based on high-quality, multi-channel seismic data, collected by Western Geophysical Company (WGC) and Geophysical Service Incorporated (GSI) and, in part, on publicly available outcrop and well data projected offshore. The report discusses the structure, seismic stratigraphy, petroleum geology, Quaternary geology, and potential geologic hazards of this large frontier area.
