Federal Courts: Pretrial Management of Civil Cases Varied at Selected District Courts

The report provides information on the progress made by the federal district courts in implementing the 1983 amendments to Rule 16 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure which were intended to improve management of civil cases. The report addresses, among other matters, the extent to which 10 of the 94 distric courts set and amended time limits for the pretrial phase of civil cases and used other provisions of amended Rule 16.
