USAID/Lusaka commissioned the study on the marketing systems for selected farm products to provide background material for the design of the Zambia Agricultural Marketing Support (ZAMS) Project. The report consists of three sections: (1) fruits and vegetables, covering the domestic market, the processing industry, exports of high-value products to Europe, and marketing channels; (2) market prospects for three traditional staple crops - cassava, millet, and sorghum; and (3) other minor crops and initiatives (e.g., sorghum for chibuku beer, preserved fruits and vegetables, the soft drinks industry). Appendices provide additional information on agricultural cooperatives.
