This occasional paper presents demographic subgroup trends for secondary school students in a series of figures. It supplements one of four annual monographs, the Overview of Key Findings, from the Monitoring the Future (MTF) study, which has been funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse under a series of investigator-initiated, competitive research grants. The full 2012 survey results will be reported in Monitoring the Future National Survey Results on Drug Use, 19752012: Volume I, Secondary School Students.1 That monograph contains a description of MTFs design and purposes, as well as extended reporting on substance use of all kinds, licit and illicit, and a number of related factors such as attitudes and beliefs about drugs, age of initiation, noncontinuation of drug use, relevant conditions in the social environment, history of daily marijuana use, use of drugs for the treatment of ADHD, and sources of prescription drugs used outside of medical supervision.
