Office of Disability Employment Policy Accomplishments: 2009-2012.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working for the Department of Labor (DOL) is supporting its mission of improving job opportunities for Americas workers. As the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy, it has been my pleasure since 2009 to oversee the efforts of the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) to ensure that people with disabilities are fully included in this mission. ODEP has worked steadfastly to address the persistent barriers to employment for people with disabilities. In this pursuit, we have been fortunate to work with many dedicated partners in both the public and private sectors. As a result, the conversation about disability employment continues to evolve from one focused on whether people with disabilities can work to how they can succeed in and improve our workplaces. The achievements and resources highlighted in this report are illustrative of the wide breadth of ODEPs activities in support of the Obama Administrations disability employment agenda.
