Field Evaluation of Sand-Clay Reclamation. Phase 2

The report includes the results of a study to evaluate the sand-clay mix reclamation method as practiced by CF Mining Corporation at its Hardee Phosphate Complex, Hardee County, Florida. Based on the results of the field sampling and monitoring programs and a computer modeling study, the following conclusions have been reached: Reclamation of mining areas using a mixture of sand tailings and waste phosphatic clay is feasible and cost competitive with conventional waste clay disposal; and Computer modeling, after adjustment of the laboratory compressibility and permeability relationships to account for field conditions, can be used to predict the thickness of sand-clay mix in the reclamation area at the end of filling. These types of predictions are very useful for disposal area planning.
