Picillo Farm is on the National Priorities List. The site was discovered in thefall of 1977 because of an explosion and fire. The soil piles are contaminated primarily with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) and phenols. The groundwater on-site and off-site is contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOC's). The site remains a potential public health concern because of the concentrations of contaminants remaining in the groundwater and possibly in on-site soils.
