Data in the report from health and demographic surveys present statistics by age and other variables on ambulatory medical care; changes in cigarette smoking practices; fats, cholesterol, and sodium intake in the diet; reproductive impairments among currently married couples; wanted and unwanted births reported by mothers; remarriages of women whose first marriage ended in divorce; and trends in breast feeding. Estimates are based on the civilian noninstitutionalized population of the United States. These reports were originally published in 1979 and 1980.
