Definitional Mission: Greece Development of Earth Satellite Stations for Businessand Market Oriented Services, Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE)

The purpose of the Definitional Mission was to analyze the feasibility of thedevelopment by the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE), of earth satellite stations for business and market-oriented services. The main elements considered were: utilization of IBS (Intelsat Business Service) earth stations; plans for the anticipated introduction of VSAT (Very Small Aperture Termilnals) and the corresponding hub stations for telemetry, network management and control; and consultancy assistance for a feasibility study on a satellite system to be operated by OTE, first by leasing transponders from existing satellite providers, such as Eutelsat, and ultimately procuring a Greek satellite system.
