摘要

The object of this report is to investigate the effect of a 2200 deg F. normalizing treatment upon the microstructure and mechanical properties of alloy gun steels cast as 900 no. ingots. Conclusions shows: (1) The effect of the high temperature normalizing treatment upon the impact properties of cast material is inconclusive. (2) High temperature normalizing treatment appreciably improves the reduction of area of tensile tests if followed by a standard anneal. (3) The high temperature normalizing treatment tends to break up dendritic segregation to some extent and diffuses the segregate to a small degree.
