Powder Metallurgy: The Determination of Oxygen in Iron Powder

A practical method, capable of accurate, routine operation, was developed from the determination of oxygen in iron powers by reduction with hydrogen gas and absorption and weighting the water evolved. For the analysis of iron powders containing 0.1 percent and higher carbon, the absorption train was modified in a simple manner to weigh also that fraction of the oxygen which is evolved as carbon monoxide.
