摘要

The experiments here reported were carried out to determine whether the renal tubular transfer of potassium can be altered by restriction of dietary potassium and whether sodium excretion is affected at the same time. The same dogs which had been used for the previously reported experiments with potassium feeding (1) were given a diet very low in potassium and were thus partially depleted of that element. When their renal tubular activity towards potassium was tested, it was found that the depleted animals exhibited a greatly increased vigor of tubular reabsorption of potassium compared to that seen in both normal and potassium fed animals. The depleted animals also showed the ability to produce urine containing potassium at a concentration less than in the blood.
