Common-Cause Failure Analysis of the McGuire Unit 2 Essential Auxiliary-Power System

This report documents the results of a qualitative common cause failure analysis (CCFA) of the essential auxiliary power system of the McGuire Nuclear Station Unit 2, which is owned and operated by Duke Power Company. The CCFA method is described. The analysis showed that potential problems exist for common-manufacturer and same-type components, but no potential problems were found attributable to environmental conditions - steam, humidity, etc. - because of the diversity and redundancy of the system.
