Design of FIR Lasers with Integrated Pump Lasers

Tokamak diagnostics require high-power, compact, stable FIR sources for plasma diagnostics. In an effort to meet these requirements at ORNL, we have developed an FIR/CO sub 2 laser package that has operated in the rather harsh environment of the ISX-B tokamak experiment for approx. 5000 discharges totaling an operating time of approx. 3000 h. We have continually strived to improve the basic design first conceived over five years ago. (ERA citation 07:045247)
