Comparative Study of Several Cases of Alpine Lee-Cyclogenesis: Kinetic Energy and Vorticity

For five cases of Alpine lee-cyclogenesis during Alpine Experiment Special Observing Period, the terms of the budget equations of kinetic energy and of vorticity are calculated in order to deduce analogies in the developments of the different lee-cyclones. The derived results suggest a number of analogies, e.g., the orographic influence on low-level vorticity and the advection of vorticity into the developing cyclone. Nevertheless numerous differences are found too, especially in the upper air energetics.
