摘要

An algorithm which determines a bivariate smooth piecewise polynomial interpolant to function values given at points scattered in R squared is presented. The degree of the polynomials is as small as possible for arbitrary triangulations and a high degree of polynomial precision is achieved. Experiments and numerical tests for quintic splines of class C squared are described.
