摘要

Several important problems of impact and planing motion at constant attitude relative to the water, with finite tangential-to-keel velocity, may be connected by the supposition that ' impact-planing forces occur in all of them and are simply related to the ' pure impact' forces of classical impact theory. Formulae for relevant equations of motion, based on these assumptions, are developed. Effects of chine immersion and structural elasticity are not considered explicitly.nExperimental evidence, to verify the semi-theoretical formulae thus obtained, is limited, but preliminary information on impact loads is urgently needed to help in designing large flying boats. Therefore the equations are given in generalised forms containing arbitrary algebraic parameters, with the purpose of determining the broad effects of varying such important quantities as craft weight and flight-path angle. The equations are presented in forms particularly suitable for trying different numerical parameters, so that acceptable values may be chosen when more experimental evidence becomes available.
