摘要

The negative pionlike particles (pi)(sup -) penetrate a metal (or insulator) plate if positive ions produced secondarily by H(sup -) ions, diffuse to the back of the plate. Thus, the (pi)(sup -) particles are not detected by a usual beam collector of mass analyzer using a metal plate. In order to detect the (pi)(sup -) particles, we must interrupt the diffusion of the positive ions to the back of the beam collector while the (pi)(sup -) particles are confined inside the beam collector and changed into a multiplied electron current.
