The Workshop on Probing Frontiers in Matter with Neutron Scattering consisted of211u001ea series of lectures and discussions about recent highlights in neutron 211u001escattering. In this report, we present the transcript of the concluding 211u001ediscussion session (wrap-up session) chaired by John C. Browne, Director of Los 211u001eAlamos National Laboratory. The workshop had covered a spectrum of topics ranging 211u001efrom high T(sub c) superconductivity to polymer science, from glasses to 211u001emolecular biology, a broad review aimed at identifying trends and future needs in 211u001econdensed matter research. The focus of the wrap-up session was to summarize the 211u001eworkshop participants' views on developments to come. Most of the highlights 211u001epresented during the workshop were the result of experiments performed at the 211u001eleading reactor-based neutron scattering facilities. However, recent advances 211u001ewith very high power accelerators open up opportunities to develop new approaches 211u001eto spallation technique that could decisively advance neutron scattering research 211u001ein areas for which reactor sources are today by far the best choice. The powerful 211u001ecombination of neutron scattering and increasingly accurate computer modeling 211u001eemerged as another area of opportunity for research in the coming decades.
