Examples of optimization of the performances of energy transportation networks. Alternate solutions to reinforce the France-Spain interconnection.

Following the decision from the French government to cancel the construction of the 400 kV Cazaril-Aragon power line threw the Louron valley, Electricite de France (EdF) has analyzed the overall alternate solutions that can allow to increase the power exchange capacity with Spain. This dossier presents successively: the France-Spain power interconnection today; the 40 solutions under study; the reinforcement of the aerial lines; the underground or under-water solutions; the reinforcement of the 500 or 1000 MW DC connections; the phase-shifting transformers; and the temporary solution retained.
