ARAC client system: network-based access to ARAC

The ARAC Client System allows users (such as emergency managers and first211u001eresponders) with commonly available desktop and laptop computers to utilize the 211u001ecentral ARAC system over the Internet or any other communications link using 211u001eInternet protocols. Providing cost-effective fast access to the central ARAC 211u001esystem greatly expands the availability of the ARAC capability. The ARAC Client 211u001esystem consists of (1) local client applications running on the remote user s 211u001ecomputer, and (2) site servers that provide secure access to selected central 211u001eARAC system capabilities and run on a scalable number of dedicated workstations 211u001eresiding at the central facility. The remote client applications allow users to 211u001edescribe a real or potential them-bio event, electronically sends this 211u001einformation to the central ARAC system which performs model calculations, and 211u001equickly receive and visualize the resulting graphical products. The site servers 211u001ewill support simultaneous access to ARAC capabilities by multiple users. The ARAC 211u001eClient system is based on object-oriented client/server and distributed computing 211u001etechnologies using CORBA and Java, and consists of a large number of interacting 211u001ecomponents.
