A STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS FLUORIDE TREATMENTS ON THE PROPERTIES OF BARIUM TITANATE AND LEAD ZIRCONATE TITANATE POLYCRYSTALLINE FERROELECTRIC CERAMICS
Property changes were observed which occur in a nondoped barium titanate body and a lead zirconate titanate Pb (Zr0.56 Ti0. 44) 3 with 1 wt% Nb2O5 after a fluoride powder packing procedure. The fluoride packing procedure consisted of surrounding matured (fired) specimens of BaTiO3 and PZT-XVIII with an alkaline earth fluoride (MgF2, Caf2, SrF2 and BaF2) or PbF2 in a closed container. The packed specimens were heated to a fluoridizing temperature and held at this temperature for soak times ranging up to 4 hours.
