THE STRIPPING OF URANIUM AND PLUTONIUM FROM DEGRADED TBP/OK

Alkaline peroxide, i.e. solutions of sodium carbonate/hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hydroxide/hydrogen peroxide, give higher stripping rates for uranium from TBP in degraded hydrocarbon diluents than solutions of sodium carbonate alone. Plutonium (IV) is only partially stripped from the same system with alkaline peroxide or sodium carbonate, but complete removal of plutonium is effected with a reducing strip consisting of 0.01M uranous ion in 0.3 nitric acid.
