A MODULAR ELECTRONIC DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEMnFOR MAGNETOSTRICTIVE READOUT OF WIRE SPARK CHAMBERS

A data handling system for use with wire spark chamber experiments, using magnetostrictive readout, is described here.nIt is made deliberately modular in concept and design to cater for any number of chambers.nThe data is stored in 16 bit, 30 MHz scalers, mounted on standard printed circuit boards carrying four scalers with readout logic.nThese are gated off in sequence according to the magnetostrictive signal input by six stage shift register blocks, four to a printed circuit,
