LIQUID METALS FOR HEAT-PI PES, PROPERTIES, PLOTS AND DATA SHEETS

For the calculation of the heat transfer in a heat-pipe many liquid and vapor data of the working fluid (metal) are required. These data are required in the region of the hoiling point.nMeasurements were made for the twelve most current metals of the vapor pressure and the surface tension. For calcium, strontium and harium density measurements were also made.nThe vapor pressure measurements were made with the new method of Bohdansky using the heat-pipe effect in an open tube. This method is described elsewhere. Surface tension and density measurements were made by the maximum bubble pressure method. The vapor pressure measurements make it possible to evaluate the boiling point, the heat of vaporization and the vapor density.
