COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF RADIATION PASTEURIZATION OF MEAT UNDER CENTRALIZED CUTTING CONDITIONS

The objectives of this study were defined by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission as follows:"to evaluate and estimate tangible and intangible benefits likely to accrue as a re suit of commercialized radiation pasteurization of meats taking into account:n(a) the value added by the processn(b) the comparative costs as between radiation and other techniquesn(c) the relative market acceptability of these several techniquesn(d) the expenditure of government funds required to achieve commercialization, andn(e) the costs to be incurred by private industry in establishing and operating a process.
