A POSITIONING-ERROR MEASURIIMG SYSTEM FOR NUMERICALLY CONTROLLED MACHINES

A system has been developed for measuring the static and dynamic positioning error of a numerically controlled machine slide. The actual slide position is determined with a laser interferometer and compared with the commanded position. Positioning error (the difference between the actual position and commanded position) is displayed on a strip-chart recorder. An analysis has been made of the system accuracy.
