A STATISTICAL STUDY OF BASIC ECOLOGICAL VARIATIONS IN A SHORTGRASS PRAIRIE SITE

A study of statistical variations of ecological parameters in a shortgrass prairie site was initiated in September, 1968, with support from the United States Atomic Energy Commission. The primary scope of the study wan to describe certain statistical variations of ecological importance over a specified geographical region and to develop methods which could be used to study these variations. The objectives were:(1) to determine statistical variations in the vegetative population structure, of a abort grass site, (2) to develop and employ statistical techniques for the study of ecological data using computer mapping tech-niques, and (3) to employ then© techniques to describe variations within an area of the shortgrass region.
