The maximum likelihood method provides the best fitting value of the number of degrees of freedom for a family of truncated chi-squared distributions, based on a given set of measurements. This technique leads to the analytical description of certain parameters which need be calculated just once. These parameters are given in tables in this report for easy comparison with experimental results, e.g., distributions of nuclear reaction widths.
