Population Energetics and Ecology of the Rock Grasshopper, Trimerotropis saxatilis

摘要

The importance of energy flow and the dominant role of grasshoppers as herbivores in many ecosystems prompted this study of their energetics as well as others. A second argument compelling the use of energetics is that energy flow data, unlike those expressed as standing crop and turnover time provide excellent means for direct comparison of this study with those on grasshoppers in different environments. It is this process of energy flow which provides an important thread in binding the components of the environment together into a functioning ecosystem.
