The statement describes the environmental impacts resulting from the construction of a new substation near Yale, Idaho, approximately 22 miles from Burley, Idaho. Land requirements for the new substation would be approximately 2 acres and an access road less than 100 feet in length would also be required. Depending on the final site location chosen, 2 acres of cropland (Alternatives 1 and 2) or 2 acres of grassland (Alternative 3) would be taken out of production. Disturbance of wildlife during construction and loss of habitat associated with the land requirements described above would occur. Some soil erosion as a result of grading will occur and increased runoff and sedimentation into the Raft River may occur. The facility would be visible from I-15 and Raft River Road.
