Aerial Radiological Survey of the Duane Arnold Energy Center (Palo, Iowa). Date of Survey: June 1976

An airborne radiological survey of an 2146 km exp 2 area surrounding the Duane Arnold Energy Center was made between June 3 to 7, 1976. Detected radioisotopes and their associated gamma ray exposure rates were consistent with that expected from the normal background emitters. Areal average exposure rates equivalent to one meter above the ground are presented in the form of an isopleth map. Exposure rates measured with small portable instruments and soil sample analysis showed excellent agreement with the airborne data. Geological data are presented in an isopleth map of rock and soil types; a brief description of the vegetation and terrain surrounding the site is also included. (ERA citation 04:055512)
