Evaluation of H-Coal Settler Stripped Underflow as Feedstock to Texaco Coal Gasification Process Final Report on Type I Laboratory Test

A Laboratory evaluation of a 20 pound sample of Settler Stripped Underflow (Sample LO-386) obtained from the H-Coal liquefaction of Illinois No. 6 Coal (Burning Star Mine) was completed at Texaco's Montebello Research Laboratory. The sample was judged to be unsuitable in its present form as a feedstock to the Texaco Coal Gasification Process.nThe material does not melt. While a water slurry can be made containing up to 57 percent solids, only a very small portion of the material could be utilized as no method was successful in breaking up the caked solid into a uniform powder. A Type II preliminary pilot plant evaluation is not recommended.
