An algorithm for improving the contrast in digital images, called ''contrast stretching,'' was implemented on the CDC 7600 computer. The applicability of this algorithm to radiographic image enhancement was investigated. Excellent contrast improvements were observed for several example images. 6 figures. (ERA citation 04:016905)
