摘要

A thermalhydraulic model has been developed to describe, in a fundamental way, steam chugging phenomena which may occur in light water reactor pressure suppression pools. The model appeals to the basic conservation laws to describe each aspect of the process and the resulting formulation is therefore relatively free of empiricism. Excellent agreement is found between calculated results, use of the new model, and a variety of measured chugging parameters obtained from small-scale experiments.
