Experimental Approach for Studying Direct Solar Gain Optics of Model Interiors

An experimental approach is discussed for measuring the effective solar absorptivity and related optical properties of direct gain interiors. Measurements can be made on a zone or total interior basis using easily constructed models. The study covers characterization requirements, experimental methods, measurement theory, and preliminary experimental results. The data that can be acquired through this approach will be of use in the economical integration of direct gain solar collection with a wide variety of building interiors. (ERA citation 04:056277)
