Commutator DC Machines Used as Mechanical Capacitors in a Series Resonant Ohmic-Heating Circuit Simulation

Rotating electrical machines, and in particular commutator dc machines can serve as a high-power energy-source for testing large, pulsed magnets. This paper describes a pulsed power supply based on traction motors which will be used to test the LASL prototype 20-MJ superconducting tokamak induction coil. (ERA citation 05:007907)
