Nonlinear Excitation of Magnetoacoustic Oscillations by Means of an Oscillating Axial Current.

A theoretical description is given of the nonlinear excitation of magnetoacoustic oscillations of a magnetized plasma column by means of an oscillating axial current. These oscillations occur at the second harmonic of the axial current. A suitable choice of plasma parameters and excitation frequency leads to the usual resonant behaviour of the oscillations.
