Department of Energy High Temperature Turbine Technology Program, General Electric Company, Schenectady County, New York: Phase 2, Environmental Impact Assessment

General Electric Company, Schenectady, New York, was one of two contractors selected by the Department of Energy to perform Phase II-Technology Testing and Test Support Studies of the High Temperature Turbine Technology Program. This report presents the potential environmental impacts that would occur as a result of combustion of coal derived low-Btu gas at the General Electric Corporate Research and Development site and combustion of mixed or simulated fuels at General Electric's main plant site. Since most of the required facilities and test equipment are existing or readily available, impacts from construction would be negligible. Equipment testing will be conducted with fuels currently used for other on-site research and would result in a negligible increase in emission of pollutants. Basically the environmental impacts as a result of Phase II would be localized and temporary. 10 figs., 10 tabs.
