Major accomplishments are: the determination of interactions among neighboring fiber ends; the determination of crack extension, plastic deformation, work hardening in short fiber composites; probabilistic approach to strength predictions for short fiber composites with variable fiber length and orientation distributions, and variations in fiber strength; analysis of composite degradation in composite stiffness due to the long term viscoelastic behavior of the matrix material; and preliminary characterization of unidirectional short fiber composite specimens.
