The temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity and thermal decomposition characterisitcs of several phenolic and silicone resins reinforced with glass chopped fabric or cloth have been measured to 600 to 700 exp 0 C in a nitrogen atmosphere. The electrical results are correlated with mass loss and thermal decomposition product data obtained using mass spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis. Peaks in the conductivity temperature dependence and deviations from ohmic behavior are found to be associated with material decomposition and/or outgassing. Results show a direct correlation between thermal stability and temperature dependent electrical characteristics. (ERA citation 06:033552)
