Observations on Thermally Cycled 20% Cr/25% Ni/Nb Stabilised Stainless Steel

A variety of optical and electron techniques, such as optical metallography, scanning electron microscopy and electron probe microanalysis, have been used to study the morphology and composition of oxides formed on 20 Cr/25 Ni/Nb stainless steel during oxidation at 850 sup 0 C and subsequent thermal cycling in simulated reactor gas.
