Assisting the Aging Network with Private Bar Involvement and Selected Legal Issues

The document discusses a project undertaken to respond directly to two law-related needs of the aging network: (1) the need for assistance in the delivery of legal services for the elderly through private bar involvement; and (2) the need for substantive assistance with two critical legal issues affecting the self-sufficiency of the elderly (home equity conversion and quality assurance in home care). The project sought to provide state/area agencies on aging with information, materials and technical assistance in effectively using the resources of the private bar, to provide technical assistance to relevant bar groups in helping the elderly and to facilitate contacts and cooperation between these two systems.
