Coal Slurry Rheology. Period of Performance: July 1, 1984-Continuing

The work discussed in this paper focuses on the study of the flow behavior of coal water slurries using a Helical Screw Rheometer that was developed for determining rheology of coal-oil mixtures at high temperature and pressure. The rheometer is a small scale pump which allowed us to circulate and measure rheology of a slurry continuously. Samples taken at the beginning and end of experiments were analyzed to determine changes (if any) taking place on the coal surface and in the slurry liquor. The investigators then attempted to correlate the physical and chemical changes to changes in fluid behavior as measured by the rheometer. 7 refs., 4 figs., 3 tabs. (ERA citation 11:053293)
