Modeling of Chemical Reactions in the Mixture of Al-Ni Powders under Shock-Wave Compression

Based upon microstructural observations of post-shock samples, a mathematical model was developed for chemical changes in the mixture of elemental Al and Ni powders from the passage of high-pressure shock-wave. The model was solved and illustrated using the one-dimensional Sandia code WONDY-IV. (ERA citation 12:041332)
