alpha -particle induced excitation functions for the reactions /sup 55/Mn( alpha ,n)/sup 58/Co, /sup 55/Mn( alpha ,2n)/sup 57/Co, /sup 55/Mn( alpha ,3n)/sup 56/Co, /sup 55/Mn( alpha ,4n)/sup 55/Co, /sup 55/Mn( alpha , alpha n)/sup 54/Mn, /sup 55/Mn( alpha ,2p3n)/sup 54/Mn, /sup 55/Mn( alpha , alpha 3n)/sup 52/Mn, /sup 209/Bi( alpha ,3n)/sup 210/At and /sup 209/Bi( alpha ,4n)/sup 209/At have been measured up to 60 MeV alpha -particle using the stack foil activation technique. The reactions /sup 55/Mn( alpha ,4n)/sup 55/Co and /sup 55/Mn( alpha , alpha 3n)/sup 52/Mn have been studied for the first time. The theoretical comparison with a pre-equilibrium (PE) geometry dependent hybrid (GHD) model has been made. The initial exciton number n/sub 0/=4 with different configurations (1n+2p+1h), (2n+2p+0h) and (2n+1p+1h) has been tested. It is found that configuration (2n+2p+0h) is the best set of choice. The pre-equilibrium fraction f/sub PE/ of the total excitation function has also been calculated at different excitation energy. (author). 23 refs, 10 figs, 2 tabs. (Atomindex citation 19:071061)
