Defining Appropriate Roles for Electric Utilities in Demand-Side Management: A Summary of Workshop Issues

摘要

The International Energy Agency workshop on Conservation Programs for Electric Utilities included 27 presentations and discussions among experts from about 20 different countries. These experts were from electric utilities, government agencies, associations, universities, and other research organizations. It would not be feasible to summarize each talk and the accompanying discussion in this paper. Rather, my purpose here is to present what I saw as the primary themes raised during the three-day conference. Therefore, this paper covers three topics: conclusions with which conference participants appeared to agree, areas of disagreement, and important unresolved issues. Finally, I give my impressions of progress among electric utilities in the United States relative to that within the other IEA countries. 3 tabs. (ERA citation 14:006139)
