Leadership Approaches and Theories with Special Reference to Military (Army)Fundamental Leadership

This paper will investigate the relatively recent formal study of leadership. Itwill define leadership, its importance, leadership approaches/theories, and then explore the idiosyncrasies and nuances of military (Army) leadership. As researchers have become more proficient in the study of leadership, new definitions of leadership versus management have been introduced, and new approaches to understanding leadership have been adopted. Major theories regarding leadership have been developed, with additional research uncovering often significant deficiencies in the theories. Nonetheless, civilian and military professionals are eager to learn how to become successful leaders themselves, and how to nurture those leaders who are present in their organizations.
