摘要

Recent advances in technology and the advent of world wide radio- positioning, navigation and time-transfer systems, which are satellite-based have altered both the scope of military operations and weapon systems, and the supporting services required. Increased navigation accuracy will improve both overall military capabilities and the accomplishment of individual service missions. The real-time connection between units and their headquarters, the necessity for employment of long-range sensors and weapons, precise positioning for mine countermeasure operations, precision delivery of weapons, rendezvous, forward artillery survey, automatic data exchange, targeting, precision approach and landing and many other military operations all require continuous availability of accurate navigational positioning/timing data. The aim of this report is to define the overall operational navigation service characteristics required for the support of NATO military requirements.
